What do you do for work? I'm a Waste Picker and a poet. I've been a waste picker for five years.
Before working with Haki Data Lab, had you ever collected data before? Yes, I worked with two organisations. I am not an expert in research but I am learning and also it was an eye opening experience, for example the research I did on Waste pickers, was able to understand more of the struggles especially the women and also people living with disability in this work.
Tell us about your “superpowers”! Everyone has one, what are yours? I love storytelling am also a spoken word poet writing and performing on social injustices.
What brings you joy in your daily life? Reading, set life, and interacting with different characters both in the dumpsite and my community korogocho. I have a collective of diverse artivists in korogocho called The Artistic Junction Collective.
Share a memory that makes you proud of yourself! I used to write pieces on social injustices while I was still in secondary school but the fear of performing them, being another statistic made me not to dare perfom them but am proud after joining the social justice movement I have been able to perform and articulate the social issues affecting us and also the recognition of my contribution to the struggle for social justice.
